St. Francis River: Silver Mines, Head of Dike Field, January 15

The St. Francis River heads in the St. Francois Mountains in southwest Missouri, and flow through the Silver Mines Shut-in, where it has eroded the overlaying soft sedimentary rocks down to the hard igneous rocks. In January the river runs black.
