St. Francis River: Silver Mines, Pillows, January 15

The St. Francis River rises in the St. Francois Mountains of southwest Missouri and flows through the Silver Mines Shut-in, where it has eroded the overlaying soft sedimentary rocks down to the hard igneous rocks. Geologists call the individual rocks pillows or dikes.
